Do I (Indian) have to look for an H1B sponsorship even if my I140 is approved ?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but since I am Indian and our priority date for EB2 is not current, I still would have to look for an H1B sponsorship even if my I140 is approved? Or would I get an automatic extension on H1B even without an employer sponsoring it?

You must have an employer apply for the extension of your H-1B visa, even if your I-140 is approved.
