What is included and what is not

Included

  • A prior-art search across patent databases and non-patent literature in the invention's field
  • A written assessment of novelty and inventive step against the closest references
  • A filing recommendation: provisional or full, which jurisdictions, and the sequence to protect priority
  • Claim strategy notes: what to claim broadly, what to keep as a trade secret
  • A 30-minute call with the practitioner
  • Fixed quote for the applications recommended

Not included

  • A formal freedom-to-operate opinion (quoted as a matter)
  • Drafting the application (see the application products)
  • Searches in languages other than English, Japanese and Chinese without a quote

Who it is for

For

  • Founders and research teams in semiconductors, AI, software and electronics deciding whether to file
  • Companies with a publication or product launch coming that would destroy novelty
  • Investors who want an independent view before a round

Not for

  • Inventions already published more than a year ago in the United States or at all in most other jurisdictions
  • Business methods with no technical effect

What the document does

Clause summaries. The product delivers the drafted and reviewed document, not a template.

Prior-art search reportThe references found, ranked by relevance, with the search strategy recorded
Novelty analysisWhich features of the invention are and are not disclosed in the closest art
Inventive step viewWhether the combination would be obvious to a person skilled in the field, by jurisdiction
Subject-matter checkSoftware, AI and business-method eligibility rules in each recommended office
Filing strategyProvisional versus full, Paris Convention and PCT routes, costs and deadlines
Trade-secret alternativeWhat should not be patented because disclosure costs more than protection

How it runs

  1. Disclosure

You describe the invention in a structured disclosure form; the practitioner signs a confidentiality undertaking first.

  2. Search

The workflow runs the database search; the practitioner refines it and reads the closest references.

  3. Assessment

The written assessment is prepared and signed by the practitioner.

  4. Call

A 30-minute call to decide the route.

  5. Quote

A fixed quote for the recommended applications, valid for 60 days.

Questions

Is this a legal opinion I can rely on?

It is a professional assessment signed by a registered practitioner, with its assumptions stated. It is not a freedom-to-operate opinion and does not clear you to sell a product.

Why is the group able to do this?

Magellan Global's founder is a registered US patent practitioner with a research background in semiconductors and AI, and the group's research institute publishes in those fields. Assessments in those fields are done by people who work in them.

Can I just file a provisional without this?

You can, and the provisional product is available on its own. The assessment exists because a provisional that describes the wrong thing protects nothing.

Does the search guarantee no prior art exists?

No search can. It reduces the risk and records what was looked at.

How confidential is the disclosure?

Covered by the engagement terms and the practitioner's professional obligations; stored encrypted in your matter.
